It Takes A Community to Launch a Farm

We’re having a REALLY big event in a two weeks!

Organizing Taking Root: Stories to Ground and Inspire Us All has taken many hours, minds and hands to make happen. Like our garden and farm projects as well as family life, we have once again seen that it takes a community to make good things happen in this world.

For the past few months, Shoresh board members, volunteers and staff have been working tirelessly to organize this event so that we can share our 7-year plan for Bela Farm with you.  We want  you to plant deep roots at our beautiful 100-acre rural centre for land-based, sustainable Judaism in Hillsburgh,  Ontario and hope the evening will inspire you to join us on the journey to creating the LARGEST Jewish educational farm in North America.

We are so grateful to the Taking Root Planning Committee, Lisa Borden, Alexandra Kuperman, Andrea Most, Dina Rock, Sabrina Malach, Risa Alyson Cooper,Jaime Slavin, and Jordan Leith to bringing together some of the most inspiring, creative and successful movers and shakers in the Toronto food scene

Speakers include: Anthony Rose (Executive chef and founder of Rose and Sons), Debbie Field (Executive Director of Food Share), Ran Goel (Founder of Fresh City Farms), Rabbi Rafi Lipner (Senior Rabbi of Shaarei Tefillah and Executive Director of The House), Dara Solomon (Director of Ontario Jewish Archives), Andrea Most (Professor of American Literature and Jewish Studies at the University of Toronto, environmental activist, Bela Farm Creative Planning Team Member) and Ryan Storm (14 year old revolutionary food blogger!).

We are also very inspired by our generous sponsors: Schecter Dental- Holistic Dentistry, Mighty Fine Brine, Sweets from the Earth, Borden Communications, RISE Kombucha, Mobius Culinary Labs, Clearwater Catering, Rock the Shtetl, Beekeeper’s Naturals, RawFoodz inc., Greenhouse Juice Co.,Sunflower Kitchen, Chocosol, Yoso SOSNICKI ORGANIC PRODUCE and New Moon Kitchen. Like all good things in life, it takes many hands to make for a lighter load. We are so grateful to be in community with so many inspiring creators and innovators who share our values of sustainability, community connection and clean food.
