BELA FARM ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDS:
Did you know that in 2017 Shoresh planted 11,000 trees and the beginning of a 20-acre bee sanctuary at Bela Farm, our rural home for sustainable, land-based Judaism? In 2019, we’ll be caring for our trees and bees, mowing, weeding, planting, painting hives and making signage. Throughout the growing season, we will spend various days at the farm stewarding the land by nurturing our trees and bees. Each day will have a mixture of volunteer opportunities and experiential learning. Feel free to come up for a day or stay for a few (if you do stay over, bring a tent!) and join us in the beautiful, rolling hills of Hillsburgh to meet our bees and trees!

BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION:
We have some awesome building projects on the go! We’re building a Welcome Centre at Bela Farm for school groups and community members to gather and learn in. We’re also building a natural playground at the Kavanah Garden for kids to run and play in and a new solar wax oven to melt our beeswax in so we can turn that into shabbat candles. Join our building crew, grab a drill and share your building skills while learning new ones!
Dates: Our building events will occur on a rolling basis as will be scheduled as needed. Sign up for our volunteer list-serve to be notified of upcoming dates.
Locations: Bela Farm and the Kavanah Garden
Join us! Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 416-805-8382 to get on the list.
FESTIVALS, SPECIAL EVENTS AND WORK BEES:
It takes a party to build community and who doesn’t love a great gathering? We love to celebrate Jewish holidays, rituals and our accomplishments throughout the year with our diverse networks of friends and community partners. Join our team of dedicated volunteers to set up and close down the Kavanah Garden, to celebrate Rosh Hashana and Sukkot at our festivals, or to host 450 community members celebrating our 10th anniversary at Taking Root, our annual fundraiser.
