Welcome to Shoresh Jewish Environmental Programs!

Rooted in Jewish wisdom and practice, Shoresh's environmental programs respond to contemporary food and ecological issues.  Through experiential education and action, Shoresh creates meaningful Jewish life and builds a more sustainable and inspired community.

Shoresh means “root” in Hebrew – grounded by Canadian soil, Shoresh is helping community members get back to their Jewish roots!

Shoresh is honored to be named for the THIRD time as one of the 50 most innovative Jewish non-profits in North America by Slingshot!  The Slingshot Guide is the go-to resource for volunteers, activists and donors looking for new opportunities and projects that will ensure the Jewish community remains relevant and thriving.

Shoresh's Executive Director, Risa Alyson Cooper, was selected to be a 2012-2013 fellow with the prestigious Joshua Venture Group, a dual-investment fellowship that supports Jewish social entrepeneurship.  As well, she was the recipient of Coventant Foundations's Pomegranate Prize in 2013 for her exceptionalism as an emerging professional in Jewish educational settings.
