Bela Farm Food Forest Steward
In 2019, Shoresh planted a 2-acre Food Forest for Pollinators at Bela Farm, a 100-acre sanctuary for wildlife, nature and people. The Food Forest is adjacent to a larger 4-acre Bee Sanctuary and contains approximately 5 swales of 80 native shrubs and trees that are fairly well established. Over the years, we have heavily dug swales and heavily mulched with cardboard and wood chips to keep the weeds out.
In 2024, we are seeking maintenance support with a one-time heavy layer of cardboard and wood chip mulch, as well as weeding the unwanted grass and plants once in the spring and once in late summer. We anticipate this taking up to 50 hours of work.
