Kavanah Kids Summer Program

This summer, give your kids the chance to discover the many different plants and animals that live and thrive at the KavanahGarden, Shoresh’s Jewish organic garden in Vaughan! 
 
Our half-day, week-long programs feature garden and nature-based activities, crafts, drama and movement, food preparation, storytelling, and more!

Creatures and Critters – July 9-13, 2012 (9am-12pm)
 
The Talmud teaches us that every animal has a purpose!  Discover some of the many creatures and critters that live in our soil, visit our flowers, eat from our birdfeeders, and help our garden grow!  Through hands-on garden crafts and activities, kids will make new fury, feathered, scaly, and slimy animal friends at the Kavanah Garden!
 
Garden Guardians – August 13-17, 2012 (9am-12pm)
 
According to the Talmud, we are forbidden to live in a city without a vegetable garden!  Help plant, weed, water, and harvest for tzedakah, while learning how to prepare healthy snacks with our bicycle-powered blender.  Through hands-on garden crafts and activities, kids will have fun growing with the Kavanah Garden!

Ages: 6-10 years old
Location: Kavanah Garden (18 Lebovic Campus Drive)
Cost: $150/child/session (or $275 for both sessions!)

Kavanah Garden Fieldtrips

   

Bring your campers to the Kavanah Garden for a morning or afternoon of hands-on, garden and nature-based crafts, activities, and more!  

 

Zeraim: Seeds (JK-Grade 1)
According to the Talmud, we are forbidden to live in a city without a vegetables garden! Discover the many sababa (amazing) plants and creatures that live at the Kavanah Garden and what we can do to help them grow!

 

Shomrei Chayot: Protectors of the Animals (Grades 2- 4)
Discover what Judaism teaches about caring for the rest of Creation! Lean about the different creatures and critters that call the Kavanah Garden home through hands-on projects and activities. This program is a Jewish response to our fury, feathered, scaly, and slimy animal friends.

 

Shomrei Adamah: Protectors of the Earth (Grades 5-6)
According to the Torah, our role is to serve as protectors of our earth. Investigate the different plant and animal species found at the Kavanah Garden and discover how the choices we make can affect the health of our garden ecosystem.
